Log Kya Kahenge (what will people say)

Remember being often told “kabhi socha hai char log kya kahenge”. I have been looking for those ‘char log’ who are expected to say more than often, more than desired, on any matter, but never seem to get the four together at any point of time. ‘Log Kya Kahenge’ is a social slogan (meaning people’s opinion) used majorly to create dilemma in others personal & public life.

There is someone to always question your judgment, someone to always doubt you and someone will always talk about you. Logon ka opinions flow as continuous tides coming to shore, one can’t deny accepting them but ensure placing them where they belong and importantly do realize others opinion is not necessary one’s reality.

Opinions do persuade but one must learn how to discriminate the unworthy content that distorts reality with assumptions, gossips and guesses. A failure not to manage people’s opinions could well affect one’s relationships, build wrong impressions and in fear of what people will say be caged in a self-prison losing the will to make one’s own choices. Log Kya Kahenge fear has killed more dreams than anything else in the world.

Difference of opinion in purity is meant to better discussions, bring about progress and creativity however in today’s times it is about showing ones importance, distorting the truth and settling personal differences, with no intention to settle or conclude the matter in subject. In disagreement too there has to be some agreement to conclude with the best option. Right to an opinion does not make the opinion right.

The teaming of Char Log and their opinions comes from quite a misunderstood and extravagantly consumed right to freedom of speech. The manner of gossiping and chatting from olden times has scaled its reach with tools of smart phones. Earlier chatting was talking to one person about one thing and gossiping was about talking with two or more. In today’s time a chat on a click is hundreds of eyeballs. Busybodies are trying to help with situations they’re not necessarily welcome or needed. Some minds consider their role out of concern but mostly it’s a desire of being nosy and meddling with what other person says or does. What pleasure is it to forward unverified contents involving another person or issues, having no quantitative or qualitative goodness or usefulness for the receiver? Making others look bad does not make one look good so why be party to encourage the teaming of char log that are absolute insensitive to the potential harm, contributing only to ripping apart the social fabric. The Bible says, “The fear of human opinion disables: trusting in God protects you from that”.

Log kya kahenge does not affect the awakened soul, for its connections are with the creator. Seeking opinion from Gurbani has stood the test of time. Aad Sach = True in the beginning. Jugaad Sach = True throughout the ages. Hay Bhee Sach = True at this moment. Nanak Hosee Bhee Sach = Nanak says this Truth shall ever be. The givers of worldly opinions can falter alter or counter, but learning and following the Creators opinion is about soulful living in two worlds. An awakened soul’s opinion unites humanity, erases all kinds of discrimination based on caste, creed and religion

“har keerat gurmat jas gaa-i-o man ughray kapat kapaat…” “When one follows the Guru's Teachings and sings the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, the doors of the mind held shut by deception, are thrown open again. The three qualities are shattered, doubt and fear run away, and the clay pot of public opinion is broken”. SGGS ANG986.
