Dealing With One's Consequences

In olden days the wise and elders spoke often so do our Holy Scriptures, putting much emphasis to one’s actions and the consequences it brings. A few quotes on consequences that surely have been read or heard.

“They receive the consequences of their own actions & are yoked to their pain”. SGGS Ang321

“They bathe at sacred shines & claim that everything has been washed off, and then they  commit them again without fear of consequences”.

“You can’t create chaos in the lives of others & expect peace to come to you”.

“O my soul, you must endure the consequences of your own actions” SGGS Ang467.

The consequences of our actions are not always apparent immediately but they eventually catch up with us, some immediate, some over the years or even carried forward to another life span. Not all mistakes deserve a consequence sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness. To be able to seek pardon and make good ones wrong doings during one’s lifetime is a blessing in disguise.

Prosperity, health, happiness and fame are every minds desire & every soul can empower it as per the divine’s way, provided one takes its guidance. Distancing the soul with the wrongful influence & indulgence of the 5 vices by speech or actions we invite consequences of hardships, pain & suffering. The people we see enjoying pleasure and delights are their consequence of past actions wherein the Giver and receiver have come together, enjoying pleasurable play. For tomorrow even these souls like anyone else need to add fresh stocks of good karmas and Nam Simran to enjoy His grace.

Those who observe consequences as an indicator introspect of any wrong doing knowingly or unknowingly done by them. To consider consequences of pain and suffering as an opportunity is all about knowing God. Consequences could also be in disguise to test your faith in your divine. Strange are people, who in spite of doing thoughtless actions are surprised with consequences and such people then blame others, or weep and take sympathy of fate/destiny. Stupidity is the unwillingness to interpret the consequences and miss the opportunity to correct, improvise and make things better than before.

Materialistic consequences are reflection to how we have given or taken. Being treated by others is all about our human relationships which we have knit in the past/present with or without knots in managing others. A worst consequence is when one’s own mind keeps you miserable. Ill treatment to other livings and environment also attracts consequences.

Most consider coincidence as an isolated act and take credits for all good things and blame ‘uparwalla’ or others for all the bad ones. Coincidences are the creator’s way of remaining anonymous. Coincidences are signs of alignment, purposeful actions in disguise. A wise man interpreted when I pray coincidences happen when I don’t they don’t and coincidences are little dues to one’s destiny. Coincidence often works closely with one’s consequences.

Inactions also have consequences. One’s Karma’s have no problem getting back and getting in touch for the smallest of our actions and it is also true when the consequences are severe people’s learning’s and corrections are quicker. One must do better than hate, lie, steal, curse, cheat, be rude, express anger, slander, exploit & dominate others, be revengeful, etc.…. in short do nothing without regard to consequences.

Happiness is not a reward – it is a consequence, sufferings are not a punishment - it is a result. When you own your choices you own your consequences and with Naam Simran no pain and suffering will ever have the best of you.
